Common DRMtoday questions

Do I need to provide payment details for a trial?

Nope! Our free trial is obligation free. No need to provide any payment details. We’re sure you’ll like how DRMtoday solves your DRM licensing and will want to continue using it after a trial.

What happens when my trial ends?

After your free trial is over, we hope you’ll continue using DRMtoday with our simple billing plan. Our sales team will check in with you, but feel free to contact us to keep using our comprehensive DRM service. We’d love to see you stay, but there’s no obligation to continue beyond your trial.

What’s the license request based model?

Our license request model is where the monthly fee is based on how many requests playback devices make to DRMtoday in a given month. For example, this can include DRM key and certificate requests.

Our Enterprise plan also offers additional pricing model options to match your use-case.

What happens if I go over 20,000 license requests with the Starter plan?

DRMtoday operates on usage tiers. If you exceed the 20,000 license requests included in the base fee, you’ll then be charged in blocks of 1,000 license requests. But don’t worry, the more you use, the more you save on usage!

How does support work?

Our service is designed for self-setup through our documentation, however, if you need extra assistance please contact our team to see how we can help.

Can I cancel my plan anytime?

We’d be sad to see you go, but yes, if you’re on the Starter or AWS Marketplace plan you can cancel anytime. You’d continue to be billed until the end of your current monthly period, and after that your account would be closed. If you’re on the Enterprise plan, you’d need to cancel before your annual contract renewal date.

What’s this about AWS Marketplace?

If you use AWS, DRMtoday is also available through the AWS Marketplace. This option offers convenient pay-as-you-go billing with monthly automatic payments made through your AWS account. Setup is easy as well with AWS CloudFormation templates for rapid deployment. And of course you’ll receive a free trial period to get started!

Common PRESTOplay questions

Do I need to provide payment details for a trial?

No way! Our free trial is also obligation free. No need to provide any payment details. We’re sure you’ll enjoy how PRESTOplay solves your playback needs and will want to continue after the trial.

What happens if I go over 20,000 views with the Starter plan?

Your first 20,000 views each month are at no charge! After this you’ll start being charged according to our usage tiers. But don’t worry, the more you use, the more you save on usage.

What’s the difference between ‘view’ and ‘user’ based models?

Our view model is where the monthly fee is based on the number of times the player software plays content in a given month.

Our user model is where the monthly fee is based on the number of unique users your service experiences in a given month. For example: if your monthly period begins May 1st, then if a user watches any amount of content in May they’re counted as just one user for that month. If the same user doesn’t watch any content in June, they aren’t counted towards your June total.

Our Enterprise plan also offers additional pricing model options to match your use-case.

What happens when my trial ends?

After your free trial is over, we hope you’ll choose to continue using PRESTOplay with our simple billing plan. Our sales team will check in with you, but you can also contact us to continue using our powerful players. We’d love to see you stay, but there’s no obligation to continue beyond your trial.

How does support work?

Our players are designed for easy setup through our documentation, however, if you need extra help please contact our team to see how we can assist.

Can I cancel my plan anytime?

We’d be sad to see you go, but yes, if you’re on the Starter plan you can cancel anytime. You’d continue to be billed until the end of your current monthly period, and after that your account would be closed. Common Video Toolkit questions

What’s the compute unit pricing model?

Cloud compute unit pricing is a flexible and transparent model giving you the freedom to control costs while maintaining the scalability desired for your workflows. Instead of committing to a predefined number of gigabytes or minutes, we offer billing based only on the amount of computational resources your workload consumes.

This ensures you only pay for what you use along with easy invoicing and accurate cost forecasting.

What’s a ‘compute unit’?

Depending on your content processing needs, there are a variety of different CPU instances that may be used which can vary in processing power. For example, some instances may have more cores or threads per core than others. The instance we select for your needs is based on which is the most cost efficient to complete the job.

To effectively calculate and compare costs between different instance types, we translate each instance’s usage into a common base unit. This normalized unit is referred to as a compute unit.

Video Toolkit counts 1 compute unit as 10 minutes of normalized instance runtime.

Example compute unit processing

Below are just a few processing examples, however, compute units will vary depending on content and encoding as well as the output renditions, bitrate, and speed desired. For example, a lower amount of compute units is needed for H.264 encoding, whereas H.265 is a resource-intensive codec requiring more compute units.

Contact us today to discuss available options to match your use-case and budget.
