New DRM-Secured MPEG-DASH Offline Playback App Available to Demo at IBC

We are pleased to announce a new desktop application available to demo at IBC 2016 at booth 14.L02. You can now offer DRM-secured MPEG-DASH content for offline playback on laptops allowing users to enjoy their favourite movies and TV shows on the go!

Offline laptop playback

When on the move or in a remote area, Wi-Fi and mobile internet is not always available for laptop users who wish to stream video. Our new app provides a solution playing secured MPEG-DASH content stored locally on a PC or Mac without needing access to the internet- a perfect solution for your traveling users. The player allows protected content to be pre-download to the computer, including a Widevine DRM license, and securely played back regardless of having internet access.

Previously, this sort of functionality for desktops was only available through traditional plugin-based applications such as Silverlight® or Adobe® Air®. You no longer need to rely on these legacy technologies. Built with the Electron framework, our technology allows DRM-enabled offline playback using the HTML5 standard.

This demo is also a perfect complement to our robust DASH Everywhere cross-browser player for desktops.
