Alec will also participate in a panel debate and will give a speaking presentation at the Presentation Theater as part of Connected Media IP.
Panel debate: The battle continues – reducing content piracy in the internet era
When: 24 Apr at 16:20-17:00
Where: Debate Theatre #W10719
What it is about: By some estimates, the annual cost of content piracy to the media industry will hit $52 billion by 2023. Even as the delivery of video moves increasingly to the Internet, content piracy is still a major problem with a detrimental impact on artists, studios and, ultimately, consumers through offset costs. In this Connected Media IP panel experts from across content security will look at the current state of the market and examine the emerging trends that content owners and operators need to consider. We will also look at the legal and technological avenues that can protect IP and examine the role that the wider industry can play in making content available for monetisation.
Speaking presentation: Content protection best practices – what you should be doing
When: 25 Apr at 10:40-11:00
Where: Presentation Theatre #W10500
What it is about: Despite the industry’s best efforts, video piracy can still occur and to minimize risks associated with potential content leaks, it’s important to follow best-practices and know what you can accomplish with your DRM service. This session will give you an overview on all of the things you should be doing but aren’t doing to secure your content, including multi-key approach, watermarking, concurrent stream limiting and more.
